Over 40 years ago two brothers had a dream. Child Psychologist Dr. John Irvine and Clinical Neuropsychologist Warwick Irvine envisaged a clinic that would offer professional psychological services in a warm and friendly atmosphere. On the platform of their three guiding principles: Commitment to the community, working honourably and pursuing clinical excellence, they created The READ Clinic. It was to become an industry leader and one of the largest private psychology practices in Australia.
About 5 years ago, John and Warwick decided to increase their work/life balance and, as a result, long serving psychologists – Andrew Sozomenou, Nathan Beehag and Heather Irvine-Rundle – assumed the positions of owners and directors of the READ Clinic.
Today with a team of over 30 people, the READ Clinic remains the oldest private psychology clinic on the Central Coast of NSW. Our Team of specialist clinicians provide a diverse range of evidence base interventions, programs and therapies. All services are provided in the same original spirit and commitment that Dr. John Irvine and Warwick Irvine began. It remains our vision (to all people regardless of age, stage of psychological needs) that the READ Clinic provides the best level of therapeutic intervention
As you will see when navigating through the website, the Clinic boasts over 20 specialist clinicians and provides a diverse range of interventions, programs and therapies. Each one of our clinicians is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia. This means they all have AT LEAST 6 years of training and that they have ongoing professional development and supervision to ensure their skills are at the highest standard.
We pride ourselves on providing the most up-to-date interventions with a firm grounding in best-practice and evidence-based research. Whilst we may be the biggest practice, we work hard to maintain the welcoming and friendly atmosphere that John and Warwick originally envisaged for the Clinic.
The READ Clinic has a genuine and longstanding local and regional footprint, with over three decades of supporting the Central Coast community. Each of our clinicians show a commitment and concern for helping each and every one of our clients become their “best self”. Many of our psychologists are published authors, highly regarded speakers and have the highest level of training in interventions and methods (including The Gottman Method, EMDR, Circle of Security, T-CBT etc.). Our team of over 20 Psychologists and Clinical Psychologists provide a wide range of services including EAPs, Workers Compensation, BAMH and NDIS for people of all age ranges.
The READ Clinic offers a professional, positive and supportive team environment.
