Renee is a Registered Psychologist and a Clinical Registrar who commenced working at The READ Clinic in 2020
Renee is a registered psychologist and clinical psychology registrar having completed her Master of Clinical Psychology at the University of Newcastle. Her approach to therapy emphasises compassion, integrity and person-centredness.
Renee has a background in working with clients presenting with mental health difficulties such as mood and anxiety disorders, grief/loss, complex trauma, drug and alcohol misuse, overcontrolled coping style, and personality disorders.
Renee is trained in a range of evidence-based treatment approaches, including: Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Radically Open Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (RO-DBT).
In addition to the READ Clinic, Renee provides therapy within an adult mental health inpatient unit working with a range of complex presentations. She also facilitates a variety of therapy groups in the community, including DBT (for Borderline Personality Disorder), Bipolar Disorder and Anxiety/Depression Management programs.
Renee has published research investigating strategies for improving self-regulation to increase stress tolerance, resilience and over well-being in tertiary students. Further, Renee’s post-graduate research focused on exploring the utilisation of wearable technology for symptom monitoring in bipolar disorder with the aim of advancing approaches to individualised treatment and self-management in the future.
