Kathy is a Clinical Psychologist who commenced working at READ Clinic in 2018
Kathy started and ran a successful group private practice in North Sydney for over 10 years. There she assisted people experiencing difficulties with anxiety, depressed mood, and work-related stress, amongst other issues. She moved to the Central Coast in 2011 and continued the commute to Sydney for over five years, before deciding to work on the Central Coast. Prior to starting at The Read Clinic Kathy worked at the Central Coast Cancer Care Centre providing emotional support to people diagnosed with cancer and their families.
Kathy has held an honorary appointment at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and was involved in research in to the treatment of anxiety and depressive disorders when alcohol abuse was also present. She was also employed by the University of Sydney to teach counseling skills to third year psychology students, and she has supervised TAFE and university students as well as experienced Clinical Psychologists. Kathy has provided psychological therapy to a variety of people, ranging from the homeless to the CEO of a large public company and an Olympic gold medal winning athlete.
Kathy values continuing professional development. She was previously on the Executive Committee of the Australian Association for Cognitive and Behaviour Therapy (NSW) and is currently a member of both it and the Anxiety Practitioners Network and The Australian Clinical Psychology Association (Founding member).
Kathy has extensive training in CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Compassion Focused Therapy.
